Get ready for a musical journey into the depths of black metal! Mayhem, the iconic pioneers of this genre, are back with a bang, announcing their highly anticipated seventh studio album, 'Liturgy of Death'. This album is set to drop on February 6th, and the band has already unleashed their powerful lead single, 'Weep for Nothing', which is available for streaming now.
'Weep for Nothing' is an epic seven-minute track that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It seamlessly transitions between intense atmospheric blasts, slower, doom-laden sections, and even showcases a progressive rock influence in the latter half. Attila Csihar, the band's prolific vocalist, showcases his versatility with both harsh rasps and operatic clean vocals, perfectly complementing the diverse arrangement.
The lineup for this album remains unchanged from their previous release, 'Daemon' (2019), featuring the talented Csihar, along with longtime members Necrobutcher on bass and Hellhammer on drums. The guitar duties are shared by Ghul and Morten, also known as Teloch.
But here's where it gets controversial... Mayhem, known for their innovative and often controversial approach to black metal, are set to embark on a European tour titled 'Death Over Europe' to support this new album. The tour kicks off on February 5th in the Netherlands and will feature fellow heavyweights Marduk and Immolation as support acts. Tickets are available, so don't miss out on this epic musical experience!
Mayhem's latest offering follows their 2023 live album, 'Daemonic Rites', and the 2021 EP, 'Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando'. These releases have kept the band's dedicated fans eagerly anticipating new studio material.
